I belong to several group that I do not, and probably never will post to, or comment on. The reason is whenever there is a post, either new discussion or comment to an existing one, I get a notification. If I'm away from the 'Corner for awhile I know what to look for.

yeah that's true, I thought of that last night after my last comment. I was going to mention it but Tom just did. It's a good practical reason to join a group. For example, I belong to every group on the 'Corner (that I didn't create myself) so that I will get notification of any activity. I also like to just show support & interest, even as Tom says, if I don't think I'll post anything.
* except the private Canada one...he doesn't seem to be "around" anymore because others have also not received replies or acceptance from him.
