National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

Hello all,

Our school was recently cleaning out their library and I noticed that many National Geographic magazines were being thrown out. I figured they may have some sort of value and was able to salvage most magazines from 1917-1938 (and maybe a few other years). I've been trying to sell them for a classroom fundraiser.

Its been much more difficult than I thought to sell them, however, and with school coming up in a few weeks, I need to get them out of my classroom.

There are around 150 magazines in total. Most are in acceptable to good shape. I can provide pictures beforehand if you wish.

I will sell them for whatever price you think fair, and am hoping that it will be enough to purchase some new books for my 5th graders. I'm willing to send them first, and have you decide on a price, as long as you're trustworthy! You'll be sure to get thank you notes from myself and students :)

Dear Mike,
I am a teacher of French and Humanities in Australia. I am building a backset of NGMs as I refer to them frequently. I am complete back to 1972, almost complete in the 1960s and about halfway through the 50s. However, prior to this is very sparse, and I would be interested in saving your copies if it ultimately meant recycling through pulping. If you were amenable to boxing, I would investigate the cost of collection and freight from your doorstep at school to my doorstep. In general, cost of individual issues varies from 25cents to 50cents in an opp shop (?charity shop), and sometimes less or marginally more in a secondhand bookshop if they are kept on the shelves. Perhaps they have ggone by now. In any case, please let me know if you still have them to offer.
Kind regards
Peter ORourke
