N.G.S.'s post-modern 'Book Division' publications ~ 1990 - 2000's

this sub-group can cover all aspects of the Society's "Book Division" which was formed in 1990 upon a significant re-organization of what had been Book Service, and, Special Publications.

For a long while, the book titles released 1990 forwards still seemed to be the separate running series types, but as the 2000's progressed, and the qty. of book titles released exploded, the distinctions (and quality) broke down. The Special Pub's (i.e., Special Publications) were re-branded as "The Special Collection" for the circa 2000-2009 era, until such time (e.g., '09) as the series was retired.

Indeed, there is such a disconnect between the contemporary (2002-present) books and the "old", that a special discussion --or Group-- may be required.

*for the 2000-2014 +  time-frame, I myself will only include those books which are readily identifiable as Society books, in tune with what we all know as those akin to 'the Book Service' flavor ;

 ... this group should not cover Special Publications, as they have their own group for their full run from 1965-2009.

A proper over-view and a suitable group cover photo pending... Thanks, ~ Scott S.

Scott,

You have made the study of NG publications an art... I wish to study and gain knowledge from your groups....

Hello Phil,

Well thank-you very much. That was a very nice thing to say and I appreciate it truly.

I surely hope in time we'll gain more group members and see what others have to say and can share. I can start the group and I have some items I will soon post to perhaps "get going", but I verily wish for activity here and in other groups that are interesting and fun, such as the Maps... group has had.
