Yeah this National Geographic magazine became an activist magazine and no longer reports facts and mostly pushes the progressive views. Since 2013, it has become crap and only worth to be used as a toilet paper. I lost respect for it. But I do have every issue starting from the beginning up to 2020. Last 7 years mostly for shits and giggles and not for the actual value of the magazine (not the monetary kind of value).

Scott,

This article make all the same points as the book Reading National Geographic (Collins and Lutz) but even on this site that book is denigrated as having "too many (some glaring) inaccuracies. Use with caution and corroboration."

Phil,

We all seem to have our blind spots. In reading the issues from 100 years ago I've noticed that many time an author would espouse progressive views on things like immigration or education and then, in almost the same breath, talk about "our Southern darkies". I've glossed over this fact in my reviews. Maybe I should take harder look at it in the future.

This issue shows the racist views held by the magazine. A reckoning was long overdue..
