Here's several presentations of the news (the first item is the most analytical). I'm going to keep my comments to myself other than providing the links --->

This is desperately sad news.
Well, keep in mind, NGM is still to be printed + mailed to subscribers and contributing members. It's being taken off newsstands -- a place it never used to be from 1888-1996-ish. The publication is not currently cancelled.
All true, but laying off almost all of your writers is not a good sign.
Nope, I know it's awful -- a long time coming and I've been dreading & expecting it. I only clarified because I see a lot of people elsewhere online who are reacting that they think the entire magazine is folded and has just ceased to exist.

Sad news indeed. Nothing lasts forever, but I was hoping that the Nat Geo would outlive me. Now, maybe not.
. . . well, my subscription expiration date shows November 2059 -- I want what's been promised!
You are correct Scott, an expected event.
And to recall - publications had reached 10 million at one time, now down to 1.7 million.
The beginning of the end.
So, I'll say it: it's like everything Disney has touched has been fouled...
*grumble*
(don't get me started on Disney . . . I wasn't happy w/ the 20th Century Fox relationship NGS had either!)
