The front is fitted with a framed wildlife print by Leon Danchin, the interior fitted with 19 spring-loaded roll maps of the world.

This map cabinet was purchased out of an estate in Ann Arbor, MI but whether or not the individuals of this estate were the original recipients is unknown. I am able to provide the names of the previous owners on request.

The front of the interior panel is cork with a mounted print by Leon Danchin (French, 1887-1938) of a green winged teal duck that is artist signed and numbered in the lower-left corner. On the upper left of the print it says Copyright By Leon Danchin Bergues Nord. The art measures 14" x 21 3/4". The inside of the front panel is a large piece of mat board.

The map cabinet is mounted directly to the wall with screws through each corner of the back panel. les

In other cabinets I've seen there were pockets for issues of NGM on the inside of the door, and this particular one doesn't have that feature. The frame is incredibly sturdy and impeccably crafted, but the interior panel is secured with thin molding on the reverse that is just lightly tacked in. It does not seem to be secured with the same craftsmanship evident in the rest of the case, so perhaps it was changed out to fit the homeowner's decor, but I do not know this for sure.

One of the maps (Japan) has lost the wooden dowel that is used to pull it down. The original pull with the brass label is in the cabinet, but it has become detached from the fabric backing to which the map is attached. Aside from Japan map and the need to better secure the interior panel to the frame, the cabinet and maps are in great condition. Please let me know if additional photos would be useful.

The Leon Danchin print is in good condition but would benefit from a remating and cleaning of the frame.
