Teacher’s Pet

If your dog bites you, perhaps while making your Dog Whisperer submission video, it’s important not to take it personally. We may think the reason we were bitten or growled at is because they’re trying hurt us. But dogs don’t rationalize. If a dog bites, pulls, or does something I don’t agree with it, [...]

Teenaged Savior

A dog naturally commits himself to his owner through his loyalty, body, mind, and heart and he expects nothing less from you. In my experience, many parents get dogs for their kids because it’s a rush; an impulse buy. Relationships based on impulses rarely work out, and somebody usually gets hurt. So [...]

My Life on the Dog List

In America, most people are experts at giving affection. While we reward people for jobs well done and hand out Emmys and Oscars for achievements in entertainment, we give dogs affection for just being dogs. Dogs in this country get more affection than anywhere else in the world. Unfortunately, affection is often [...]

Organization of this site...

I've noticed many people posting to forums (left sidebar and tab) rather than the blog (center of home page). When we originally set up this new site, we thought the blog would be used more frequently by our collectors who wanted to buy, sell, general information, etc. about NG products and publications. The forums area was set up as a way to host more in-depth discussions around a particular topic (e.g., Preservation of NG Products and Publications). So, let me know how you would like us to str… Continue

We have created this new space for our collectors. This site replaces our old Bulletin Board site that will be shut down on nationalgeographic.com at the end of the year. We hope you enjoy this new feature and appreciate any feedback.

Hi Chris,

I checked the old project file this morning and it appears there were quite a few issues with trying to get that cover to look right. In your case, it looks like a misregister, which is where the hologram image was not positioned precisely in front of the striker plate. A decision was made to reduce the trim size in order to bring down the estimated percentage of misregisters, but it still may have been around 10%.

Hi Chris,

Karen forwarded your message to me. I will take a look at our archives file and see if there is any information about a misprint.

Best wishes,

Cathy Hunter

Hi Karen,

Have you ever seen a misprinted cover like this one? I put it on the discussion corner, but thought I would ask you as well.

Thanks for the info,
Chris

I just found this group. I like it! I have an extensive collection of National Geographic magazines, books and epheremia, including an original, unbound copy of Vol. 1, No. 1 from 1888. It literally have boxes of the stuff including 8mm flims, vinyl records, school bulletins from the 50-60s. I even started a website for NG collectors about 10 years ago that was shut down by the NG legal department :)

I am currently on a trip around the world so I can't collect at the moment, but I will be sure to return.

Yes -- have a large poster-like picture in my office from that article "From Wolf to Woof" as well as one from a wolf story NGS did in the 1980s of an Arctic wolf. Also have the "Book of Dogs."

Hi Karen,

you mention that you like wolves and dogs...so you must have particularly enjoyed the "From Wolf to Woof" article of January 2002? My family and I are huge dog lovers. Do you have the "Book of Dogs" also"?
