National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

I live in the UK and in the past have been able to buy NG slip cases here. However the London NG shop and the UK on-line store have now closed and the NG US on-line store will not ship outside North America. Can anyone please suggest a solution to my problem.

1) Check the Dealer Directory link on the upper left margin of the home page for this web site. Contact dealers and ask them if they have the slip cases for sale or know who might.

2) Search eBay for National Geographic slipcases (or leather binders, etc.) Some dealers may sell internationally.

 example: here's a link I found on eBay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/National-Geographic-Leather-Burgundy-Slip-C...

Good Luck!

which ones are you interested in?

John,

...that is truly more than a "bummer" . . . I am so sorry to hear that and I can imagine how I would feel. It's an interesting piece of news, but given some other contextual circumstances, I do not feel surprised at your news.

And, the cherry on top is that at the very least, and as a "tit-for-tat" consideration, that the U.S. website will not now ship internationally. They do not care to accrue income perhaps....?

Anyway, good wishes hunting around, I hope you can find some to help you out, but it you have everything you need up to 2015, 2016, it is going to be trickier to keep current, as it will take quite some "lag time" for a U.S. eBay seller, for instance, to have a 2016, a 2017, 2018, etc. slipcase set available. And I fear, compounding this is that fewer and fewer people even in N. America are buying the slipcases with each passing year.

//sigh// Frankly, I've been waiting on baited breath for a couple years already to find that they discontinue making them altogether. I would hope not, but...

kind regards,

The next time you are in Tallahasee, Florida, visit the public library (forgot the street...darn!). They have a ton of magazines and slipcovers for free on a continual basis.

I have the same problem John. I lived in theUK and have all magazines and slipcases from 1994. Now I live in Spain but see that the slipcases are no longer available in Europe. I managed to get the last couple of years slipcases through ebay but that source seems to have dried out. It is rather annoying. I keep receiving messages telling me that I am a loyal valuable member but am no longer able to get hold of the slipcases. I am probably going to stop my subscription.
