I have 2 issues from 1939, October and November, which is right after the war broke out in Poland, Germany, and corresponds in time with the Soviet Union's attack on Finland.
Background
Just before these issues, In August 1939, Germany and the Soviet Union signed the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact, a non-aggression treaty with a secret protocol. This was to last for 10 years. The parties gave each other rights, "in the event of a territorial and political rearrangement," to "spheres of influence" (western Poland and Lithuania for Germany, and eastern Poland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Bessarabia for the USSR). It also raised the question of continuing Polish independence.
Corresponding Time Period
-1st official breakout of war: Germany & Slovakia attacked Poland Sept 1 1939
Sept 3- France and Britain declare war on Germany--also began a naval blockade of Germany
Sept 17- Soviets also invade Poland
-Poland's territory divided between Germany, Soviet Union, (small shares for Lithuania and Slovakia)
-Polish Underground State and Polish Home Army established (fighting on all fronts outside Poland
-100,000 Polish military personnel evacuated to Romania, Baltic countries
-Japan launched 1st attack on Changsha, a strategically important Chinese city, yet stopped by end of Sept.
