In 1977 an elderly Scandinavian gentleman friend of mine offered me one half of his collection of National Geographic magazines. My share was the latter half, in years spanning January 1952 Volume 101, through December1965, volume 128. Earlier he had had each year's worth bound in red leather, for a total of 28 volumes. One condition was attached to this generous gift: I was made to promise that I would read each and every issue cover to cover and to not let them languish on a bookshelf without the enjoyment of reading them. Over the years I got married, raised two children, and moved in and out of nine homes in five states, always hauling the heavy 28 volumes of NG with me from place to place. Not until 2010 did I BEGIN to read the first volume. I kept my promise, leafing through each and every page. It was fascinating to relive the historical progressions in countries, establishment and demise of nations around the world, and the political changes in leaders, all of which I had followed in the news all those years. Completion of the reading took me several years. Now I am ready to pass on this collection to anyone who would be willing to give them a good home.
In addition, I also own the National Geographic Index hardcover book 1947-1976 Inclusive, published in 1977, plus all the paper Indexes 1974-1979, Volumes 145-176.
