With regards to the 33 Founders of the Society, I wanted to share this link, and hope that it may be of interest to fellow 'Corner members:

These biographical sketches are a treasure, and it is so nice to finally have some proper background on so many of them. A number of the founders are very elusive to gain insight on, whereas a few (deservedly) have consistently garnered much praise and attention throughout Society publication(s) history.
Cathy Hunter, the admin. of our Collector's Corner posted most of the bios during 2013 on the National Geographic (Magazine's) NewsWatch, a daily web blog of news, information, Society business & history, etc.
It seems the bio's were all written by the N.G.S. 'historian', Mark C. Jenkins; he also authored several other titles about Nat Geo history and days of yore.
I am still working my way through reading the bios a little at a time, as I only just chanced upon the series several weeks ago. The last few years were quite unpleasant for my family and myself, and I was "out of the loop" for the most part in my participation here on the Corner, as well as in my own personal voyage of Nat Geo discovery & collecting.
best to all,
~ Scott T. Shier
